Portland's Sacret Heart Village
Portland, Oregon
At Sacred Heart Village, a 68-unit senior independent residence, drainage for the steep emergency access road presented a challenge. It was too low to benefit from the drywells that drained the upper part of the site.
The certified pervious pavement contractor recommended an inexpensive and effective solution. "Cut-off walls" were dug deep into the soil to slow water flow and increase containment area for the stormwater. Rain soaked the site for two weeks immediately after the system was installed. No water from the 2,640 square foot pervious pavement area ran off the site.
Hiring a knowledgeable pervious contractor helped the design team find excellent solution to this tricky site. The job got finished on time and rainwater can now soak back into the ground as nature intended.
