Longview Ohio Street
City of Longview, Washington
The extremely high water table in Longview, Washington creates challenges to road building in this growing community. Homestead Development recently solved that problem when it completed Ohio Street: a 500 foot long, 14 home subdivision on the west side of Longview.
This eight inch deep pervious concrete pavement channels water directly into the soil where it can reach the groundwater, just as it did prior to development. Evolution Paving Resources provided mix design and job supervision to the concrete supplier, the installer and for the City.
The City of Longview has a long history of using concrete streets, and Ohio Street was their first pervious concrete street. Based on the success of this project, the City intends to adopt a standard specification for pervious concrete streets.
