Evolution Paving Resources has now added color to its Architectural Pervious
Concrete line of high quality pervious pavements.  This fine aggregate mix
allows the installer to create masterpieces out of pavement.
Our colored architectural pervious concrete was used during a recent field test
on a new slipform paving machine “the SideWinder” designed by Evolution
Paving Resources.  The finish was nearly perfect right out of the paver.  A
little touch up and jointing was all the installers needed to do before
covering with plastic to cure.

Building Council recommends pervious concrete for achieving high levels of
on-site storm water dispersal, keeping run-off out of the storm drains and
rivers. It’s better for the environment.

Ultimate APC gets to work!

Posted in Uncategorized by admin on the December 4th, 2008

Evolution Ultimate™ Architectural Pervious Concrete (APC) is now accepted by several cities in a big way.  The City of Beaverton, Oregon dedicated its new commuter plaza (naming contest underway as we speak) and the central aspect of the dedication was the green nature of the natural looking concrete pathways and some art pieces that will adorn the park for a year before being rotated to other locations in the city.  The city of Olympia, Washington has also accepted it use and the City of Vancouver will soon be advertising it new public works facility will feature Evolution Ultimate pervious walkways.
Ultimate™ APC pretty much sells itself because it is very pervious and it looks fantastic.
Noteworthy:  On December 1, 2008 a new screening system installed by Quality Concrete now manufactures the aggregate specified to make Evolution Ultimate APC.  This is big news because lack of specified aggregate supply was the only thing holding Ultimate back.  Get the women and children off the streets because we aim to change the world with this great looking product.

More on our TRAILrider Machine…

Posted in Uncategorized by admin on the December 4th, 2008

TrailRider™ Slipform Paving machines (the forms move with the paver as opposed to being nailed to the ground).  The City of Cupertino, California recently specified pervious concrete on a 2350 foot trail.  The trail varied from 8’ to 10 feet wide.  The city was very concerned about impacts to the park.  The TrailRider™ provided the forming, finishing, and compaction so the whole job was completed in two days.

TrailRider ™ also provided a higher quality pathway than is possible manually with difficult to handle pervious concrete.  Quality pavements installed quickly we hope will give confidence to public agencies and private developers.  Layton Manufacturing, the originators of the Layton Box asphalt paver, is the manufacturer of our products as of December 1, 2008.  They promise to offer fast turn around and high quality parts and service.

How can this be such a big deal?
1.       It allows mechanical placement versus back breaking hand labor so it slashes installation time.
2.       It places the pavement smooth and to as close to the correct depth as possible.
3.       It compacts the pervious concrete ½”(without the heavy rollers and riser strips) as required by the NRMCA to reduce raveling.
4.       It should make pervious concrete more competitive when compared to asphalt or unit pavers.
5.       Because it reduces labor and cuts costs concrete finishing employees should get MORE work as we pick up a larger share of the paving market that has traditionally gone to asphalt.
6.       Making pervious concrete more affordable will help the environment by allowing more of this environmentally friendly product replace impervious pavements

What is new in pervious concrete?

Evolution Paving has been working since 2004 on improvements to the pervious concrete industry.  Our innovative TrailRider™ Sleds are now available for sale nationally. These machines are out in the field helping contractors quickly install premium pavements that do not cost as much to install.  Also our long awaited Architectural Pervious Concrete is now available in Oregon and Washington.  I will be scheduling visits to specifying agencies early 2009 to show it off.
